Machu Picchu (“Old Mountain” in Quechua) is an archaeological site located in the Cusco Region, Urubamba Province at 2,430 mosl / 8,000ft. high).
It is often referred to as the «Lost City of the Incas» the Inca built the Royal Estate around 1450AC, it was brought to international attention in 1911 by Hiram Bingham am American Academic, explorer, and Politician.
Machu Picchu is one of the most iconic landmarks and symbol of the Incan Empire and also one of the most famous and spectacular sets of the world.
A visit to Peru would not be complete without seeing it.

Itinerary
Our day starts off early, you will be picked up from your Cusco City accommodation at about 3:45hrs by our tourist transportation for roughly 90-min drive to “Ollantaytambo”, the only Inca living village remaining to this day, where we will board our train at approximately 06:15hrs or otherwise scheduled to “Aguas Calientes” for an hour-and-a-half train journey.
Much of the path winds along the rushing “Vilcanota River” offering passengers dramatic views of the Andean landscape and how these will change from dry Andean highlands to a Rainforests climate change during your journey. It is known as quite an exhilaratingly beautiful train ride.
Upon arrival to Aguas Calientes´ Train Station, you will be greeted by our staff who will be waiting for you with a sign with your name(s) written on it and who will accompany you and head straight to the Bus Station to take a bus for a 20 to 30-minutes ride up the cliffs to Machu Picchu while enjoying dramatic views of its cloud forest surroundings
Finally, when you reach Machu Picchu, you will meet your tour guide and join a travel group by the main entrance for a guided tour. Your English/Spanish speaking guide will take you around the main parts of the complex to proudly impart ancient Inca history and stories for 2 hours approximately to then let you wander around on your own to discover the ancient Inca citadel of Machu Picchu.
Late afternoon, you will take a bus back down to “Aguas Calientes” and take the train back to “Ollantaytambo”. be sure to arrive at the train station 30 minutes before your departure time, depending on your train return schedule.
Once you arrive “Ollantaytambo” train station be attentive for our staff member(s) calling out your name while holding a sign with your name(s) on it for you to board our tourist transportation on your way back to the City of Cusco. The ride takes 1.5 hours and you will be dropped off at “Regocijo Square”, located very near the Main Square.
